2001 Dodge Caravan Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Maintain and Repair an Oil Pan on 2001 Dodge Caravan?
A: To start, raise the vehicle on a hoist and while it's resting, drain the engine oil from the bottom. After that, take out the structural collar and the air conditioning compressor bracket from the oil pan bolt, together with the bolts linking the oil pan. When the oil pan is out, make sure to clean both it and all the gasket areas. Be sure to use Mopar Engine RTV GEN II as you apply it to the engine block where it connects to the oil pump and then place the gasket for the oil pan into position. Remount the oil pan and fix its screws to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Then attach the air conditioner compressor bracket bolt to the oil pan's bolt and install the structural collar without tightening. When it's finished, set the car on the ground and add just the right amount of fresh oil to its crankcase.
