2001 Dodge Dakota Door Lock Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Door Lock Switch on the Driver's Side Front Door Trim Panel on 2001 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before servicing the driver door lock switch, first release and isolate the battery's negative cable. Lift the bezel carefully from the passenger front door trim panel starting at the rear of the power window and lock switch, using a flat wide tool or a suitable trim stick. Gently open the bezel to remove it from the trim panel and once removed, you'll find the two receptacles in the back of the unit, along with the door wires leading to the power lock and power window switches. Lift the snap clips at the receptacle's sides using a small thin-bladed screwdriver after removing the switch bezel from the power window and lock switch. Set the power lock switch into the receptacle on the back, align it with the lock switch bezel and press down until it snaps flush. Slide the window and lock sensor bezel into the slot in the driver's door trim and fit the two door connectors together again. Push the front of the bezel into the opening, then push the rear down until it locks in place and reattach the battery's negative cable.
