2000 Dodge Dakota Door Lock Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Door Lock Switch on 2000 Dodge Dakota?
A: Previous to repairing the power door lock switch in Conventional Cab or Club Cab vehicles, make sure the battery negative cable is disconnected and separated. Pry the bezel of the switch very gently at the front and back with a flat-bladed tool, like a trim stick, to break the clips holding it to the opening in the door trim. Pull back the bezel and switch and pull out the harness connector from the door trim panel before you remove the unit. To install, put the back of the bezel into the phone and press down on the front until it's in place. On the driver side front door of a Quad Cab, unhook and isolate the negative battery cable and then take away the trim panel from inside the door. From the back of the trim panel, unscrew the power window and lock switch from the bezel and carefully extract both from the door trim portion. Reattach all the wires and remove any stickers on the brakes. After that, tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Check the battery negative cable and unhook it for the passenger door, then grab a trim panel extension and remove it from the inside of the door. Gently press in a tiny thin-bladed screwdriver at the edges of the power lock switch receptacle on the back of the door trim panel switch bezel and remove the switch. To complete the installation, return the steps you took to remove the switches and press both switch snap retainers firmly into the receptacles.
