2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: When servicing or repairing the rocker arm assembly, first take off the cover for the cylinder head. Turn all the rocker shaft bolts one full turn to remove all valve spring pressure. After that, take off the rocker arms and shaft assembly. Before disassembling, be sure to look at the correct guidelines. Take care that the longest of the three retaining bolts is placed correctly on the rocker shaft when installing. Set both the rocker arm and shaft assemblies on the pedestal mounts, verifying that each pushrod has its place on the lifter and the rocket arm socket. Adjust the rocker arms so that each socket corresponds with a pushrod's other end. Begin to tighten the rocker arm shaft centrally and then reach the outer bolts, stopping 20 minutes after installing the shafts to allow lifter bleed down for proper operation. When done, torque all the rocker shaft bolts with the rest until seated and the torque should be 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.).
