2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Service and repair of the rocker arm assembly begins by removing the upper intake manifold assembly, after which the spark plug wires are pulled straight out while their boot is aligned with the plug. You should remove the crankcase ventilation system link and then buy a new cylinder head cover along with a new gasket. After that, remove the four rocker shaft bolts and retainers and take out the rocker arms and shaft assembly. When you disassemble the rocker arm assemblies, do not forget to replace and position the rocker arms properly using the supplied markings. Set all the rocker arms and shaft retainers, including the stamped steel parts, at each position and close them with 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) of torque. The rocker arm shaft must be gently turned down with the center bolts first, followed by waiting 20 minutes for tappet bleed down time once the rocker shafts are installed, before running the engine. Wash the gasket surface connected to the cylinder head cover and check the cover for any bending that might exist; correct it if there is a problem. Make sure the wash the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head, add the new gasket and tighten the fasteners to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Finally, reinstall the crankcase ventilation system, spark plug wires, and the upper intake manifold assembly.
