2001 Dodge Neon Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Belt Tensioner on 2001 Dodge Neon?
A: Service and repair the drive belt tensioner by removing the engine mount bracket, taking out the pulley's retaining bolt and finally unmounting the pulley. The installation process needs you to install the tensioner pulley, install the dust shield and bolt and tighten the bolt to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Note that a small amount of axial cylinder movement is ordinary for a tensioner arm which maintains tension in the belt between 50 and 70 pounds.
