2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the Brake Master Cylinder on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: Before servicing the Brake Master Cylinder, make sure the engine is turned off and push down the brake pedal several times to empty the braking assist mechanism vacuum. After that, take the brake lines from the Brake Master Cylinder and unscrew the nuts that secure the Brake Master Cylinder to the mounting studs. When you are going to replace the Brake Master Cylinder, remember to bleed it first. Secure the new Brake Master Cylinder to the studs, add the mounting nuts and tighten them to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Next, install the brake lines and tighten them to 16 Nm (145 inch lbs.) and you should finally bleed the brake system at its base.
