2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service and repair the Brake Proportioning Valve (Combination Valve) on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: The first step in servicing or repairing the Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve is to take out the left turn signal housing and the extension panel below it. Disconnect the horn wire, remove the access cover and take out the reservoir mounting screws. Lift the reservoir, unplug the pump motor connector and remove the pump hose, before pulling the reservoir out from inside the engine bay. After that, pull the pressure differential switch wire away from the combination valve and take off the brake lines on the valve's switch end. From inside the access cover opening, remove both brake lines from the valve and the bolt that holds the valve in place. To attach the valve, stick it onto the bracket, insert and tighten the bolt to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Fit the brake lines in place and firm them down to 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.). Put the washer reservoir into the engine's compartment, attach the pump motor connector and pump hose and fasten the washer reservoir in place with its screws. Connect the horn connector, then place the access cover and the extension panel on top of it and follow with the left turn signal housing. Afterwards, fill the base brake system and let it bleed before using it.
