2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to service the rear engine mount on 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: The first step of servicing the rear engine mount is to lift the vehicle on a hoist, then use a transmission jack to raise the rear of the engine and transmission a little. Take the rear mount through-bolt and nut out, then lift away both the U-shaped bracket from the frame crossmember and the insulator from the bow shape. After that, take out the rear engine support bracket from the bottom part of the transmission extension housing. Installation requires fitting the rear engine support onto the transmission extension housing and tightening all bolts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) of torque. Put the insulator on the U-shaped bracket and tighten the nuts so they reach 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque. Screw the through-bolt into the insulator and U-bracket assembly assembly, together with the rear engine support, tighten the through-bolt nut to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) torque. After that, slide the locking tab into the alignment hole in the crossmember and secure the connecting bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) of torque. When all is ready, take out the transmission jack and lower the vehicle.
