Dodge Ram 2500 Van Engine Mount Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the front engine mount on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
    A:
Start the engine mount service by opening the lid, positioning the fan and moving it so that the radiator top and hose are clear. Disconnect the negative battery terminal without lifting the engine using the intake manifold. Fit the engine lifting device and lift the car with a hoist. Remove the nuts from the brackets and insulators and with the support fixture raise the engine enough to take out the insulators. When the bracket is taken off, put it back onto the cylinder block and tighten it down to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) torque. With the engine up slightly, set in the insulators and then start guiding the studs on the insulators into the holes of the crossmember and brackets as you lower the engine with the support fixture. After that, tighten the nuts holding the engine to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) torque, push down the vehicle and clear the engine support fixture from under the car.
  • Q: How to service the rear engine mount on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
    A:
You should raise the vehicle on a hoist and use a transmission jack to lift the rear of the transmission and engine a little before servicing the engine mount. Start by taking off the rear mount through-bolt and nut and then take the U-shaped bracket off the crossmember and the insulator off it too. After that, remove the rear engine support bracket from the bottom face of the transmission extension housing. To install it, put the rear engine support on the bottom face of the transmission extension housing and turn the bolts tight until the torque reaches 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.). Fit the insulator onto the U-shaped bracket and tighten its nuts with 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque. Put the through-bolt through the group of the insulator, U-bracket and rear engine support and tighten the nut to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) torque. Put the U-shaped bracket back onto the crossmember and use a torque wrench to tighten the attaching bolts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Take off the transmission jack and let the vehicle down.
