How to service the Cigarette Lighter (auxiliary power outlet) on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Van?

In order to service the cigarette lighter, unconnect the battery negative cable. Pull out the knob and element and examine the base of the receptacle. Take the snap ring pliers and discharge the retaining bosses and unconnection the wire harness. Remount, re-connect harness and reconnect knob or cap and reconnect the battery.
