  Begin the cigarette lighter service by removing and isolating the battery's negative cable. Lift the cigar lighter knob out of its spot or gently unsnap the cap from the power outlet receptacle base. See where the rectangular retaining bosses lock the receptacle base into place on the front bezel of the instrument panel. Use an external set of snap ring pliers to connect its tips to the retaining bosses, squeeze to detach them and then gently rock the pliers as you pull the receptacle base out of the mount. Unplug the instrument panel wire harness connector from the receptacle base and pull the mount off the instrument panel accessory switch plate. Installation happens by putting the mount on the accessory switch plate and plugging in the wire harness. Slot the splines from the receptacle base connector into the grooves of the mount, then use your hands to push it down; when the retaining bosses are fully engaged, the splines won't move any more. After that, put back the cigar lighter knob and element or the protective cap and attach the battery negative cable.

  Before letting go of the auxiliary cigarette lighter, unplug and disconnect the battery negative wire. Pull the lighter knob and lighting element out of the cigarette lighter receptacle base or just remove the plastic protective cap in the receptacle base. Measure the inside of the very bottom of the receptacle to locate the 4 rectangular retaining bosses that fasten it to the instrument panel lower bezel. Hold the tips of the external snap ring pliers against the retaining bosses, squeeze them closed to lock the bosses and then while squeezing the pliers, gently pull the receptacle base out until it's loose. First, remove the instrument panel wire harness from the main box and take out the mount from the instrument panel accessory switch. Afterward, insert the mount into the accessory switch and fasten the wire harness connector back on. Put the splines on the outside of the receptacle base connector in the matching grooves on the mount, then press until the retaining bosses click into place. Install the cigarette lighter knob and element or the protective cap and then reattach the left side of your battery.
