2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Van Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield washer reservoir on 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Van?
A: You should first unhook and isolate the negative battery cable when servicing your windshield washer reservoir. After that, take the headlamp and dash wire harness connector that leads to the washer fluid level switch out of its connector and from the motor connector, remove the headlamp and dash wire harness connector that leads to the washer pump/motor unit. Separate the supply hose from the washer pump/motor's barbed outlet, so any remaining fluid flows into a clean recipient that you can reuse. Securely remove the top of the radiator panel by unscrewing the two screws, lift the washer reservoir gently, then pop the reservoir out of the slot in the bracket under the lower panel. Put the washer reservoir against the back of the radiator panel, fasten the tab at the bottom of the reservoir into the bracket gap, install the top screws and secure them so that they show 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.) on the torque wrench. First, attach the washer supply hose to the barbed outlet nipple on the washer pump/motor, then join the washer pump/motor side of the headlamp and dash wire harness to its connector and finally reattach the other end of that wire harness to the connector on the washer fluid level switch. Refill the area where fluid was removed, replace the battery cable, then you are done.
