2001 Dodge Stratus Oxygen Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Locate and Replace an Oxygen Sensor on 2001 Dodge Stratus?
A: Each of the O2 sensors is installed at the bottom of the two outlets in the catalytic converter. Be certain to cool the engine before starting the replacement, as the exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes and catalytic converter can heat up and cause injuries. To start, remove the negative battery cable and after that, make sure the car is raised and supported. All you need to do is disconnect the O2 sensor wire connector without pulling directly on the wire within the sensor. The YA 8875 Snap-On oxygen sensor wrench should be used when removing the sensor. Following sensor removal, use an 18 mm X 1.5 + 6E tap to clean the exhaust manifold threads. When keeping your original sensor, apply an anti-seize compound like Loctite 771-64 to its threads; new sensors already come pre-coated, so additional compound is not essential. First screw the sensor to 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) torque and then place the O2 sensor and tighten it to the same 28 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Attach the O2 sensor wire connector, position the vehicle once more and put the negative battery cable back in.
