2002 Chrysler Concorde Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain Your Thermostat for Optimal Performance on 2002 Chrysler Concorde?
A: Before servicing the engine coolant thermostat, connect the negative cable to the remote jumper terminal and do not remove the pressure cap from the radiator while it is hot, as coolant could burn you. Blow and drain out the cooling system and then take out the dipstick and tube from under the engine and block the dipstick tube entry in the crankcase through with a suitable plug. Raise the vehicle on a lift, hold up the engine and get rid of the left engine mount. Following this, undo the gen support strut and disconnect the connector to the generator. Remove the attaching bolt where the transaxle dipstick tube bracket connects to the upper bulge, then remove the lower bulge's heater hose bracket bolt and the two hoses that attach to the thermostat housing. Separate the thermostat bolts and then scoop out the thermostat and its housing. For assembly, bone up the grout sealing surfaces, lay in the thermostat with the bleed valve aligned with twelve o'clock and place the gasket around it. Place the thermostat and housing onto the cylinder block and tighten the bolts until you reach 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Fit the heater return and radiator lower hose ends to the thermostat housing and hold them on tight with hose clamps. First, fasten the heater hose tube bracket bolt, next attach the dipstick tube bracket bolt, next place the generator support strut and at last, secure the generator electrical connector. Place the left engine mount, drive the vehicle to the ground and check the condition of the dipstick O-ring. If it needs replacing, do so and install the engine oil dipstick and tube afterward. Top up the level in your cooling system and then connect the negative cable to the remote jumper terminal.
