Chrysler Concorde Thermostat Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Thermostat on Chrysler Concorde?
    A:
Start the thermostat service and repair by first unhooking the negative cable from the remote jumper terminal. Never take off the pressure cap when the system is still hot and under pressure, to prevent dangerous burns. Drain the cooling system, following the instructions for cooling system service. First, remove the accessory Drive Belt so the generator can be taken out and then lift the vehicle with a hoist. Remove the bolts holding the thermostat to the generator and put the generator out of the way. Unhook the lower radiator and heater hoses of the Thermostat Housing, then remove the bolts securing the housing and finally pull out the thermostat and its housing. After you've cleaned the gasket sealing areas, install the thermostat with the bleed valve aligned at 12 o'clock and then put the gasket into the thermostat housing. Reconnect the cylinder block, thermostat and housing using bolts that are tightened to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Connect the heater and lower radiator hoses, then fasten them with hose clamps. Attach the generator and hold it with its bolts, raise the vehicle and put in the accessory drive belt. Pour coolant into the system and then hook up the negative cable once more to the remote jumper terminal.
