2002 Chrysler Prowler CV Boot Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a CV Boot on 2002 Chrysler Prowler?
A: Begin by taking out the halfshaft assembly from the vehicle before changing the outer constant velocity joint boot. Following that, eliminate the bigger clamp that is over the C/V joint sealing boot in the joint housing and the tiny clamp securing the outer boot to the connecting shaft. Move the sealing boot from its position on the outer C/V joint housing and place it down the connecting shaft. Wipe off any grease to see the retaining ring on the outer C/V joint to interconnecting shaft. Separate the ear sections of the C/V joint assembly to free the retaining snap ring and gently slide the outer C/V joint off the shaft. Pull away the sealed boot that failed from the shaft connecting the two turbine rotors. Always remember to check the outer C/V joint and its connecting joint for excessive wear; if something is worn too much, you must change the whole halfshaft assembly, since its parts can't be serviced.
