This CV Boot is part of the car that defines the magnate, reliability, and performance of Chrysler Prowler vehicles. Being the covering designed for shielding Constant Velocity (CV) joints it is a central component critical in power delivery from the transaxle to the wheels. Thus, the CV Boot helps to retain the necessary lubricant and to exclude contamination by dirt and similar particles enhancing the reliability and safety of the automobile. Intended for a number of Prowler models that use Rzeppa joints, this reinforced CV Boot is specifically designed to fit both kinds of joints implemented in the Prowler's construction. Especially, the CV Boot should be checked frequently, as the presence of any cracks or tears in it may result in the failure of the CV joint and negatively affect the car's performance and durability. The Chrysler Prowler, now famous around the globe for its rat rod-like style merged intricate design and its vigorous 3.5 L V6 engine, is vastly improved by the steadiness of the cv boot. For instance, CV Boot has gained a unique market niche because the boot is well built and it lasts long, thus keeping the Prowler brand chugging along. The CV Boot is a crucial component that increases the safety and performance of the legendary Chrysler Prowler since it is dependable, compatible, and the most critical protective element for extreme and fast car use.

Chrysler Prowler CV Boot Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a CV Boot on the Halfshaft Assembly on Chrysler Prowler?
    A:
Start by taking off the halfshaft from the car and then change the sealing boots. The Prowler tripod lacks an internal retaining mechanism in the joint, so you shouldn't pull on the shaft connecting the tripod housing and transmission. The first step is to remove the large boot clamp from between the inner tripod joint boot and the tripod joint housing and the smaller clamp from the boot on the interconnecting shaft. Slide the heavy rubber boot away from the tripod housing and move it down the shaft connected to it. When removing the spider joint, make sure to hold the rollers to stop them from falling out while you are working on the tripod joint housing. After that, take out the interconnecting shaft and the spider assembly from the tripod joint housing. Remove the clip that holds the spider assembly on the connecting shaft and now take out the spider assembly. Should the spider not move, place the end of a brass drift against the spider and strike gently, avoiding the leg bearings. Removal of the leaky sealing boot from the interconnecting shaft and a detailed inspection and washing of the spider assembly, tripod joint housing and shaft will show if there is excessive wear on the parts. If there is any, the assembly should be replaced because the Prowler halfshaft assembly parts are not able to be serviced.
  • Q: How to Properly Install a CV Boot on a Constant Velocity Joint on Chrysler Prowler?
    A:
Slide on the retaining clamp, then the replacement inner tripod joint sealing boot, so the thinnest groove is all that shows on the interconnecting shaft. Install the spider assembly onto the interconnecting shaft, ensuring that the assembly is far enough out to allow full installation of the retaining snap ring. If you need to, gently tap the spider body with a brass drift, again not touching the bearings on the tripod. When that's done, put the spider assembly retaining snap ring into the groove on top of the interconnecting shaft, making sure it is completely seated. Notch half of the grease from the seal boot service package into the tripod housing and put the other half into the sealing boot. Fit the spider assembly and the interconnecting shaft into the housing of the tripod joint and evenly clamp the inner tripod joint seal boot clamp onto the rubber boot. Put Crimper, Special Tool C-4975 over the bridge of the clamp, secure the nut and continue adjusting the clamp by hand until the jaws just clamp the seal and the sealing boot is not dimpled, stretched or out of shape. Mount the sealing boot in the tripod housing retaining groove and make sure to equally install the seal boot retaining clamp. Before you attach the sealing boot, check that the stroke of the inner tripod joint is correct so that the sealing boot does not develop problems. Use Crimper, Special Tool C-4975, to fasten the sealing boot to the tripod housing and replace the halfshaft in the vehicle.
