  A: Separation of the propeller shaft should begin with the battery negative cable being disconnected. After that, separate the cooler lines from the transaxle at the transmission and attach them. Take off the gearshift cable from the manual valve lever after removing the transaxle cooler and the bracket. Remove the electrical connections that connect to the transaxle. Hold the transaxle and take the rear mount out, then remove the front bolts. Remove the brackets holding the exhaust to the engine rear mount and take out the entire exhaust system and all the hangers. Place marks on the front and rear ends of the propshaft flanges at the drive couplers for installation. Since the shaft and couplers are dealt with together, always avoid servicing the individual components of the shaft. Separate the couplers from the outer part of the flange without detaching anything at the propeller shaft. Take out the bolts at the front flange of the propshaft at the front drive coupler and from the rear flange at the back drive coupler as well. Place the floor stand under the propeller shaft, push the transaxle to the rear and make sure the propshaft clears the drive flange pilots on all sides without lowering it and damaging the inner bushings. After that, guide the front of the propshaft below the propshaft flange pilot and withdraw the propshaft from the car.
