• Q: How to Safely Service and Repair a Fuel Rail on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?

  A: You must empty all the pressure from the fuel system and avoid sparks or fire while working on the fuel rail. Take off the negative battery cable and remove the intake manifold plenum by loosening its mounting bolts and lifting it from the engine. Be sure to cover the intake manifold, so debris does not enter. Pull off the fuel supply tube quick connect fitting at the rear end of the fuel rail. If the connectors on the injectors don't have their cylinder numbers, tag them to identify them. Take the electrical plugs off the fuel injectors and remove the bolts on the sides of the fuel rail, then carefully pick up the fuel rail off the cylinder head. Lift off the fuel injector's retaining clips from the fuel rail and then remove them. To fit the injectors, soften the O-rings on the injectors using clean oil, add the clips to each injector and push the injectors into place until you hear them click into position with the clips. Put the fuel rail over the heads of the cylinders and push it carefully into position, securing it with 11.9 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque. Attach the fast-connector on the fuel supply tube to the fuel rail, link the connectors from the fuel injectors to the electrical wiring, put in the intake manifold plenum and finish by reattaching the negative cable to the battery.
