2002 Chrysler Sebring Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold for Lower on 2002 Chrysler Sebring?
A: The first step to servicing or repairing the lower intake manifold is to relieve gas pressure and remove the upper manifold. Disconnect the wires from the fuel injectors and take out the fuel hose from the fuel rail. Then, let go of the screw connecting the fuel rail support bracket to the throttle body support bracket and unscrew the bolts attaching the fuel rail. Remove both the fuel rail and injectors as a group and also take out the manifold attaching bolts and the lower manifold. Look for any damage, cracks, gasket problems or warpage on the manifold as well as damage to the fuel injector ports; replace the manifold if you find any of these. While setting up the engine, inspect both sides of the sealing surface on the cylinder head and manifold. If your chosen gasket is intact, you may use it again. Put the manifold on the cylinder block and put a bolt about 2 - 3 turns into the intake's rearmost attaching hole, so you can better position the manifold. Set the parts of the fuel rail on top of the injectors, then bolt the manifold to the head and tighten all the bolts in the right order to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.), then remove the alignment bolt. Connect all the fuel injector electric connector harnesses to the ECU, making sure the injectors do not hinder the upper intake manifold. Attach the support bracket at the fuel rail to the bracket at the throttle body using screws, link the fuel hose to the fuel rail and then add the upper intake manifold.
