Q: How to Install and Remove Car Speakers in a Club Cab and Regular Cab on 2002 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before taking out the front door lower speaker, unplug the negative battery cable and put it aside, then remove the trim panel. After that, take out the screws holding the speaker to the front door, pull the speaker near the mounting hole, unplug the front door wire harness connector from the speaker and then carefully remove the speaker from inside the front door. Disconnect the battery negatively and open the way between the grill and dashboard, then remove the screws and the front door upper speaker. Once more, remove the negative cable from the battery, remove the panel from the back door, unscrew the speaker, take it out so you can disconnect its wire harness, then take off the speaker. To work on the rear cab side speaker in a Club Cab, pull the negative terminal from the battery, tear off the trim panel, unscrew the speaker from the panel, remove the wire harness connector, pull away the speaker and remove it. With the Regular Cab, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the panel nearby the B-pillar and get to the speaker wire harness connector by pulling back the B-pillar trim. Then, detach the connector, remove the screws holding the speaker to the back of the panel and take out the speaker. Install the front door lower speaker, attach the front door wire harness, slip the speaker in the mounting hole, tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), add the trim cover panel back and plug back the negative battery cable. Set the front door upper speaker, attach it, tighten the screws to 1.3 Nm (12 in. lbs.), attach the wire harness connector, add the trim panel and reconnect the battery negative cable. Plug the rear door wire harness connector into the speaker, insert and tighten the mounting screws to 3.9 Nm (35 in. lbs.), secure the trim panel and plug the battery clamp back onto the battery. On the television/stereo speaker side of the Club Cab, place the speaker, attach the body wire harness, tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), attach the trim panel and reconnect the negative battery cable. In an ordinary Cab, secure the speaker to the back of the B-trim pillar, tighten all 2 screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), attach the body wire connector, apply the trim piece and reattach the battery negative cable.
