2002 Dodge Durango Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Camshaft Position Sensor on 2002 Dodge Durango?
A: Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) is attached to the front/top of the right cylinder head and usually can be reached from underneath the vehicle. To take out the sensor, raise and hold up the vehicle and then detach the connector from the CMP sensor. After that, take out the sensor by undoing its mounting bolt and rotating the sensor out of the cylinder head, to see the condition of the sensor O-ring. When fitted, first clean the machined hole in the cylinder head, then add a little oil to the sensor O-ring. Attach the sensor to the cylinder head in a gentle rocking way to make sure the O-ring is not harmed. Make sure none of the sensor comes out of contact with the cylinder head before tightening the bolt to 12 Nm (106 in lbs.). After that, reattach the electric connector to the sensor and lower the car to the ground.
