2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Blower Motor Resistor on 2002 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before servicing the blower motor resistor, turn off the air bag system by disconnecting and isolating the car battery's negative wire and let the capacitor discharge for two minutes. Release the negative battery terminal, then get to the blower motor resistor by going to the passenger side of the HVAC unit and aiming for the bottom of the unit. To disconnect the wire harness connector from the resistor, unlock the latch by pulling on the lock at the connector, then easily depress the latch and release the connection. Unscrew the two holding screws on the HVAC housing, then remove the resistor. For installation, put the resistor in the HVAC housing and attach it with the two screws, tightening each to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After that, attach the other end of the blower motor harness to its connector, slide the connector's lock into place, close the glove box door and reattach the negative battery cable.
