2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Antenna Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Antenna Cable on the Instrument Panel on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: The first thing to do is to disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable before changing the Instrument Panel Antenna Cable. Under the passenger side of the instrument panel, go to the right cowl side inner panel and unclip the coaxial cable connector at the bottom of the heater-A/C housing. First take off the foam tape then disconnect the coaxial cable connector by pulling the metal halves apart while twisting them, while leaving the cable alone. Tie a convenient length of cord or twine to the instrument panel part of the antenna cable which you will use to help during installation. Pull the glove box down from its space on the instrument panel. Grab the cable coming from the antenna using the opening in the glove box, withdraw it from the panel and pull the receiver out. Remove the antenna cable from the back of the radio and untie the cord or twine from where it's connected to the instrument panel antenna. Take out the antenna cable from the instrument panel. You should attach the end of the twine or cord used earlier to install the connector on the antenna cable. Pull the antenna cable through the hole in the radio with the cord or twine, then place the radio receiver on the instrument panel. There is a hole in the glove box for the antenna cable to pass through; reach in and link the cable to the clips at the back of the instrument panel before pulling up the glove box panel. Release the cord or twine from the instrument panel antenna cable connector, place the two halves of the radio antenna coaxial cable together under the passenger side, move them inside the right cowl side inner panel and seal them with foam tape. After that, attach the heater-A/C cable to the clip on the housing and again attach the battery negative cable.
