The first step in working on your
Antenna cable is to disconnect and separate the negative
Battery Cable. Get to the coaxial cable connector underneath the passenger side of the instrument panel just beside the right cowl side inner panel, then remove it from the retainer clip that holds the heater-A/C housing. Take off the foam tape, then unplug the connection by twisting and pulling at the cable's metal connector. For later use when installing, secure a length of cord or twine to the connector on the antenna side of the coaxial cable. After that, access the antenna coaxial cable grommet inside the dash panel, on the engine side and take it out, then haul the cable from the dash into the engine compartment. To remove the mast, raise up the sleeve, reach the screws on the top and unscrew them from the antenna body. Unscrew the antenna cap nut with an antenna nut wrench (C-4816) and then lift off the antenna adapter from the
Fender. Lower the antenna body and cable assembly from the top of the fender. Withdraw the antenna and cord out through the gap between the right cowl side outer panel and the top of the fender, so the coaxial cable runs through the reinforcement opening on the right cowl. Take out the cord or twine from both the antenna body and the cable coaxial cable connector, so it remains on top of your cable. Take out the antenna from your car and remove its cable as well. Glue the removed cord or twine to the connector on the antenna cable you are installing, pull the cable through the radio receiver opening and guide it toward the antenna socket in the instrument panel. Place the radio receiver on the instrument panel, attach the end of the antenna cable to the small clips below using the opening in the
Glove Box and then secure the glove box. Pull the cord or twine loose where it attaches to the instrument panel antenna cable, look below the passenger side of the instrument panel near the right cowl inner panel and push the radio antenna coaxial cable connector together, finally wrapping it with foam tape. After that, put the coaxial cable connector into the retainer clip on the bottom of the heater-A/C housing and connect the battery negative cable.
