2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Engine Mount on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before servicing the front engine mount, begin by removing the viscous fan/drive assembly and taking off the negative battery cable. Hang the vehicle over a hoist and prop the engine up with a screw jack and wooden block. First, unscrew the special thru-bolt on the passenger side and the nut, then remove the bracket to engine mount bolts attached to the transmission oil cooler. Rise the engine and take out the four mount to block bolts, followed by removing the whole mount from the vehicle. To install the engine mount, raise the engine a bit, put the mount on the block, screw in the bolts and tighten them to 149 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) torque. Put the thru-bolt into position on the engine mount, drop the motor into its place and move the mount and thru-bolt so they rest on the frame-mounted cushion brackets and then tighten the thru-bolt nut to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.) torque. On the passenger side, put in the two transmission oil cooler support brackets and tighten the bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Remove the lifting fixture, set the car down, fit back the viscous fan/drive plug and connect the battery negative cables.
