2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Neutral Safety Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Neutral Safety Switch on a 47RE Automatic Transmission on 2002 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Service or repair the Neutral Safety Switch on a 47RE transmission by first jacking the car, placing a drain pan beneath it and removing and inspecting the switch. Remove the wires from the switch and take out the switch from inside the case. After that, put the shift lever into Park and Neutral, so the switch operating lever fingers sit centered on the opening in the plate beneath them. Screw the seal onto the switch and then put the switch into its proper case, tightening it to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). See if the switch's new connections are seamless by testing with a 12V lamp, rewire the switch and then lower the car. Don't forget to fill up the transmission fluid tank at the top.
