2002 Dodge Stratus Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2002 Dodge Stratus?
A: The first step to servicing the brake master cylinder is to remove the vehicle wiring harness connector out of the brake fluid level switch inside the master cylinder brake fluid reservoir. Take out the brake tubes from the master cylinder outlets and connect plugs to the open ends on the assembly. Apply Mopers Brake Parts Cleaner or an alternative to the area around the master cylinder at its connection point on the booster. Get rid of the two screws M cost keeping the master cylinder assembly fixed to the vacuum booster and then pull the master cylinder straight from the studs. The studs on the power brake unit should hold the master cylinder assembly in place while the push rod from the power brake vacuum booster matches up with the piston of the master cylinder at installation. Bolt in both mounting nuts and fasten them with a torque of 26 Nm (230 inch lbs.). Join the brake tubes to the connections on the master cylinder and tighten the tube nuts until they reach a torque of 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.) Reconnect the wire connector to the brake fluid level switch, fill the master cylinder with clean Mopers Brake Fluid and keep a safety driver with you for a test drive.
