- Q: How to Locate, Remove, and Install a Battery Sensor on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?A: Battery temperature sensor is attached to the mounting hole on the battery tray and under the vehicle battery. Before removing the sensor, uninstall the battery by the correct way. Then remove the sensor and disconnect it from the engine wire harness and pry the sensor straight up from the battery tray mounting hole. To install, thread the pigtail harness through the hole in the top of the battery tray then push the pigtail sensor into the top of the battery tray. Then connect the pigtail harness and reinstall battery as necessary.
