2003 Chrysler 300M Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Caliper on 2003 Chrysler 300M?
A: To work on the front brake caliper of export models, use a brake pedal holding tool to press the brake pedal an inch and lock it, since this prevents fluid from the brake system getting into the master cylinder. Lift the car and then take off the front wheel and its tire. Open the banjo bolt to remove the brake flex hose, as you should be able to take off both washers together. Removed the two bolts holding the caliper guide pins, release the caliper assembly by turning the top caliper outward and lifting it from the steering knuckle. Should you need to do this, gently lift the rotor straight off the wheel mounting studs if possible. compression, pull the piston all the way back and if there was a rotor, reinstall it on the hub. Use a lot of Mopar Brake Grease For Caliper Slides Lubricant on both machined knuckle abutments. Cover the rotor with the caliper and brake shoes again, redoing the previous steps, but do not cross-thread the caliper guide pin bolts. Put in the guide pin bolts and secure them to 22 Nm (192 inch lbs.). Thread the banjo bolt to the flex hose, add a washer to each side and then set the tightness to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.). First, reattach the wheel and tire assembly and tighten the wheel stud nuts by sequential half turns. After that, repeat the sequence until the studs reach the correct full torque of 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Raise the vehicle after any brake system service, then wait for a firm brake pedal before driving off. Take out the holding tool for the brake pedal, bleed the brake system at its base and then take the car for a test drive to seat the brake linings.
