2003 Chrysler Concorde Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install a Shock Absorber in the Rear Strut Assembly on 2003 Chrysler Concorde?
A: Assemble the rear strut by fixing the stabilizer bar attaching link to the strut using all its components. Place the strut assembly in the car, line up the 3 strut studs with the holes in the strut tower and fix the 3 strut mount to body nuts, tightening them until you reach a torque of 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). Bring the vehicle up to working height to place the lower strut, secure the spindle on the lower end of the strut assembly so the notch lines up with the locating tab and then extract the center punch out of the hole in the spindle. Place the spindle to strut assembly pinch bolt and tighten it to 53 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). After that, set the lateral links onto the spindle, but do not secure the lateral links to the spindle attaching bolt until the vehicle is sitting level. Raise the stabilizer bar link onto the stabilizer bar and use a crowfoot wrench and torque wrench to tighten the bolts to 95 Newton meters (70 foot pounds) holding the link stud with your hand. Secure the rear wheel speed sensor to the brake caliper adapter using the head attaching bolt tightened to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.). Hold the rear braking disc to the hub and then loop the rear brake caliper over the disc, making sure to tighten the rear caliper assembly to adapter bolts to 22 Nm (192 inch lbs.). Put the wheel and tire onto the outboard side where the stud is, secure it with the nuts and end up torquing all the nuts to 95 lb. feet once. Place the vehicle back on the ground, get the tire weight on the ground and tighten the lateral link to spindle attaching bolt to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Connect the radio speaker wiring to the rear speaker, set the rear radio speaker and mounting bracket with 4 screws, fit the rear quarter and upper trim panels and lastly slide the rear seat back and seat cushion in. It's important to check and adjust the rear wheel toe according to what's given in the manual if you must.
