2003 Chrysler Town & Country Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Drive Belt on 2003 Chrysler Town & Country?
A: Service the drive belt first by lifting the car on a hoist and then taking off the drive belt shield. Be sure not to allow the drive belt tensioner to shoot away unexpectedly, because this can cause trouble or injury. Put the wrench on the belt tensioner lug and turn the tensioner to the left until the belt comes loose. Remove the drive belt and restored the tensioner to its natural state. It's important to remove every speck of oil, grease or coolant from the belt pulley grooves and clean them before installing the drive belt. You should replace the belt when there is extreme wear, loose cords or stubborn glazing. While slight cracks down one side are to be expected in the Poly-V Belt system, cracks running parallel are considered defective. Do not apply any dressing or restorer to a Poly-V Belt. To install, guide and attach the drive belt to every pulley except the crankshaft. Turn the belt tensioner clockwise until it becomes loose enough to put the belt onto the crankshaft pulley and then release the tensioner slowly. Once the belt is in place on all pulleys, check and secure it, put the drive belt shield on and lower the vehicle.
