2003 Dodge Durango Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install an Automatic Transmission Filter on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Place a newly packaged oil filter seal into the oil pump intake hole first, smoothing the seal against the oil pump using the butt end of a hammer or an appropriate object. This will prevent inserting the oil filter seal onto the filter bore. Now, set the replacement filter onto the valve body and into the oil pump and use the screw to secure it after tightening it to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs. ). Don't forget to fit a new cooler return filter on the transmission, making sure to torque it properly to 14.12 Nm (125 in. lbs.). Put a bead of RTV sealant on the transmission case sealing area and then fit the pan on top of the transmission. Bolts should be tightened to 11.8 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque after removing air bubbles under the pan. Now, lower the vehicle and put in Mopar ATF +4 to fill the transmission.
