2003 Dodge Durango Door Latch Assembly Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Door Latch Assembly on 2003 Dodge Durango?
A: Start by taking off the door trim panel and getting rid of the water dam if it's covering anything. When accessing the latch, pull the glass up, remove the bolts connecting the rearward glass run channel to the door and move and secure the channel after that. After that, take out the screws that hold the latch to the shut face inside the door and undo the wire harness for power locks if your car has them installed. Remove the lock button to latch rod, lock cylinder to latch rod, inside handle to latch rod and outside handle to latch rod from the latch before you separate the latch from the door. For installation, lock the outside handle and the inside handle, either lock the cylinder or press the button on the latch and lock it with the inside handle. Install the latch on the door, screw it on securely to the door shut face and tighten them to 9.6 Nm (85 inch-pounds). Attach the handle you removed earlier to the latch rod and the door locks' connecting harness if your car is so equipped. Add the run channel for the rear window, the dam under the door edge and the door's trim panel. With the door closed and locked, use the hole in the face of the shut door to reach the latch adjustment screw in the deadbolt, loosen it to adjust door handle flushness, then tighten it back up.
