2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
A: The first step in servicing or fixing a throttle body is to take off the engine cover and the air cleaner. Remove the electrical connector from the MAP sensor, IAC motor and TPS. After that, disconnect the vacuum line at the throttle body and remove all cables from the throttle body's lever arm. Remove the four bolts holding the throttle body and take out the throttle body from the intake manifold. Throw away the old gasket between them. Before installing, wash the surfaces where the throttle body and intake manifold meet, insert the gasket and secure the throttle body onto its manifold. With the four bolts, tighten each to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) torque. Ready the truck by reconnecting the control cables, vacuum line and electrical parts and then install the air cleaner and engine cover. You should not touch the set screw, since it is already properly adjusted at the plant and controlled by the PCM for engine idle speed.
