How to Service an 11 1/2 American Axle Shaft on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500?

First, take out the axle shaft flange bolts to begin servicing the rear axle with an 11 1/2 American Axle. Pull the axle shaft out of the axle tube and remove the gasket that's around it. For installation, either swap out the axle flange bolts or put Mopar Lock N' Seal or Loctite 242 on the clean ones. Wash the axle flange and hub and cover the new axle shaft in a gasket. Feed the axle shaft into the axle tube and add the bolts to the flange, tightening them to the correct torque of 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).
