2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van Seat Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: What are the steps for inspecting and replacing a seat belt and its components on 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Van?
A: Dur6ing all service appointments, test all seat belts, buckles, mounting hardware and retractors to ensure they are all in good working condition and replace those that are broken or stretched, straighten twisted ones, replace loose fasteners and any belt with a damaged or broken buckle, retractor, latch plate or anchor plate. Any time a seat belt part is broken or damaged, you should replace it with a new part from the Mopar Parts Catalog. To change the quick release rear seat belt and retractor, press the quick-release button behind the anchor plate cover on the turning loop and lift the anchor plate off the anchor screw. If required, remove the screw from the quick-release turning loop anchor plate on the inner roof rail. Let go the screw under the rear seat, press the plastic belt guide free from the top of the seat, lift the seat cushion cover, put the belt anchor between the back of the cushion and the seat and remove the top shoulder belt anchor and retractor. Fix the shoulder belt and retractor onto the quick-release rear seat track, then push the upper shoulder belt anchor into the space between the seat back and the backrest cushion; lift the skirt to find the lower shoulder belt anchor and position it to the rear seat cushion reinforcement; attaching the upper shoulder belt retraction guide to the top of the seat back to prevent any twists; and move the shoulder belt retractor and lower anchor plate downward until they are both on the reinforcement, hold down the connector arm of the lower anchor plate to fix them all in place.
