Start by disconnecting and isolating the battery negative cable and if the air bags haven't deployed, wait for two minutes to allow the system capacitor to discharge. You should examine all the seat belts, their buckles, mounting hardware and their retractors to make sure everything is installed correctly, working properly or unharmed. Change any belt that is torn, frayed or cut, correct any twisted belt, fasten any loose fixing and install back up belts that have flawed fasteners, retractors or teeth or bent latch or anchor plates. Release the front shoulder belt turning loop cover from the right side, remove the securing screw from the loop and set all three pieces aside. Release the seat belt tensioner pigtail wire from the connector and remove the screw that holds the retractor to the outboard side of the passenger front seat riser before you take out the shoulder belt and retractor. To complete the left side, disconnect the seat belt switch and tensioner pigtail wires, take out the turning loop and anti-rattle washer, remove the turning loop cover and screw and then remove the screw securing the retractor to the lower inboard side of the B-pillar and the shoulder belt. To install on the right, fit the front shoulder belt and retractor on the outboard side of the passenger front seat riser and be sure the retractor's locating tab connects with the riser, then screw in place and tighten to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.); reconnect the seat belt tensioner pigtail wire connector; position the anti-rattle washer and shoulder belt turning loop, looping it and securing with a screw tightened to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.); and snap the trim cover Fix the front shoulder belt and retractor to the lower inboard side of the B-pillar, making sure the retractor locks in place using its locating tab, then tighten the screw holding it to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs., reconnect the seat belt switch and tensioner pigtail wire connectors, snap the anti-rattle washer and shoulder belt loop into place and fasten the loop with another screw of 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). You should not attach the negative cable from the battery until after completing the air bag system verification test after working on any air bag system component.
