2003 Dodge Ram 3500 Battery Tray Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install a Battery Tray on 2003 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Take the battery out of the tray and once that's done, you can take out the integrated power module. Unhook the wiring retainers from the battery tray assembly and take out the retaining bolts that hold the anti-lock brake controller in place. Use mechanics wire to support the controller so that you don't fully remove the unit. After that, remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield, note where the cruise servo is if you have one and remove each retaining screw, arranging the servo so it is not in the way. Get the battery temperature sensor out of the tray, take out the purge solenoid from its bracket and off the mounting for the left front fender ground wire. Once those are off, remove the bolt holding the battery in place at the tray and get rid of the battery tray from the vehicle. Position the battery tray first and attach it with the bolts, after that, tie the left front fender ground wire and place the purge solenoid onto its mounting bracket. Install the battery temperature sensor in the battery tray and afterward put in the cruise servo and its retaining screws. Installing the left front wheelhouse splash shield, anti-lock brake controller and connecting all the wire harness retainers on the battery tray assembly. And then, connect the integrated power module to the battery.
