2003 Dodge Sprinter 2500 A/C Condenser Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install an A/C Condenser on 2003 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: To extract the HVAC condenser, separate the negative battery connector from the car and vacuum out the refrigerant that was in the system. After that, unclip the grille, front fascia and headlamps and then take out the radiator crossmember. Remove the discharge and liquid lines from the A/C condenser, eliminate the O-ring seals and either plug or cover the openings on the liquid line and the A/C condenser. Take the wire harness connector off the auxiliary fan, then take out the fan and the upper bracket assembly, then remove the lower bracket retainers and bracket. Take out the four condenser retaining screws and then gently pull the condenser from the car. While installing, if the condenser is being replaced, include 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the approved refrigerant oil to the air conditioning system. Secure the condenser in the vehicle and attach each retaining screw by hand until it reaches 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). After that, attach the lower auxiliary fan bracket and its retaining nuts. Tighten everything to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.) and add the auxiliary fan and upper bracket assembly, also tightening to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.). Couple the wire harness to the auxiliary fan, detach the tape or plug from the condenser inlet and discharge line fittings, add clean refrigerant oil to a new rubber O-ring seal and set it into place on the discharge line fitting. Connect the A/C discharge and liquid lines to the A/C condenser and fix them in place with 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) of tightening. After that, put in the radiator crossmember, headlamps, front fascia and grille and connect the battery negative cable. After that, evacuate the system and add refrigerant for recharging.
