How to Service an A/C Expansion Valve on 2003 Dodge Stratus?

First, get rid of the refrigerant in the system by using a refrigerant recovery machine to properly service the A/C expansion valve. At the expansion valve, take off the A/C plumbing lines and be sure to cap them so that moisture doesn't get into the system. Then, loosen and eliminate the retaining bolts and remove the expansion valve. While fitting the valve, first place new O-rings on it and attach to the evaporator with bolts secured at 7 Nm (60 in. lbs.). Following that, fit new O-rings and secure the A/C lines onto the expansion valve, tightening the bolts for 8 Nm (71 in. lbs). In the end, pull out the system and run it through a charge cycle.
