  • Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Expansion Valve on 2002 Dodge Stratus?
    A: To repair or service the expansion valve, initially use a machine designed for removing refrigerant from most AC systems. Take the clips off the lines to the expansion valve and use Quick Connector Kit 7193 to take apart the quick connectors from it. Temporarily remove the lines from the expansion valve and make sure you cap them to stop moisture from getting into the system. After that, open the expansion valve retaining bolts and remove the expansion valve along with its gasket. Install the expansion valve bolted to the new gasket and secure each with 11 Nm (100 in. lbs). After new O rings are in place, hook the A/C lines onto the expansion valve and then install the quick connector clips. Remember, after removing the battery, charge the system countryside.
