2003 Dodge Stratus Evaporator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix an Evaporator on 2003 Dodge Stratus?
A: The first and most important step for servicing the A/C evaporator is to disconnect the negative battery cable. Hang the HVAC housing aside and disconnect the connection from the recirculation motor before you begin. Next, take the wiring harness connector off the top of the housing and the seal off the evaporator coil inlet/outlet. Release the retaining screw and withdraw the upper part of the housing. Next, take out the evaporator temperature sensor from the lower housing. Gently remove the evaporator from the housing below and unplug the styrofoam seal from it. Put the new evaporator coil into the lower housing and check that the styrofoam seal is correctly fitted as this will help to keep water out of the passenger area. After that, place the evaporator temperature sensor back on, screw the upper housing onto the lower housing, attach the connector to the recirculation motor and install the evaporator seal. After that, put the HVAC harness on the upper housing and slide the HVAC housing back into the vehicle.
