2003 Dodge Stratus Center Console Base Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install the Center Console Base on 2003 Dodge Stratus?
A: To take out the floor console, elevate the parking brake lever and shift the transmission lever to neutral. Turn the set screw on the front of the shift knob, then take out the shift lever knob. Make sure not to use a trim stick or tool for this process. Squeeze the sides of the indicator bezel and raise it until you hear or feel the tabs come loose from the floor console. Disassemble the bezel by pulling out the connector for the transmission range indicator wire beneath the bezel. After that, take out the screws on the floor shifter and those in the console storage compartment that hold the floor console to the floor brackets. Separate the wire connector from the floor console accessories, remove the console and make sure the grip portion of the parking brake lever will fit through the lower part of the slot. The floor console should be installed and its connector for the accessories fixed to the floor pan during installation. Check that the larger pin in the bottom of the storage bin is in the matching slot on the body bracket and that the small pin in front is in the shift mechanism. Screw the floor console into the side of the floor shifter and into the compartment in the dashboard panel to attach it to the brackets below. Place the wire connector from the transmission range indicator bezel's underside on to the wire connector on the front and slide the bezel over, applying pressure until the locking tabs click. Afterward, insert the shift lever knob and apply pressure to the set screw on the front of the shifter.
