How to Service the Cigarette Lighter in the Center Console on 2003 Dodge Stratus?

Before touching the cigarette lighter in the center console, unplug and isolate the battery negative lead. Pull the cover off the console and watch how the retaining bosses are held. Install the 90-degree tip snap ring pliers against the bosses and then squeeze the pliers to force the bosses out of the base. Gently sway the pliers so that the base is peeled out through the ring or you can try a tool built for this step. Take the wires out of the base and then slide the base mount ring off to the side. Be sure to begin the installation by installing the base mount ring and connecting its wires. Fit the base securely into the center console and then finish with the negative terminal on the battery.
