2004 Chrysler Crossfire Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Drive Belt on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Start by turning the drive belt tensioner with a wrench and holding it in place by inserting a 5 mm pin. Get rid of the accessory drive belt from the pulleys and inspect both the belt and pulleys, if required, substitute any component that shows indications of damage. After removing all the debris from the belt pulley grooves, use a rag to clear oil, grease and coolant away. You should replace the belt if it is too worn, the cords look damaged or there is severe glazing. Normal ribbed side cracks happen after standing the chair upside down, although if they are side by side lines, the chair must be changed. Do not put any dressing or restorer on the accessory drive belt. During installation, you should place the accessory drive belt on the pulleys: crankshaft, A/C compressor, power steering pump, idler pulley, generator, water pump and tensioner. Spin the tensioner in a clockwise direction, pluck out the 5 mm pin and lay the tensioner on the belt before you let go and remove the wrench.
