2004 Chrysler Pacifica Steering Wheel Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Steering Wheel on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before removing the steering wheel, straighten the front wheels and disconnect the negative (-) cable of the battery, so the system is isolated. Wait at least two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before you take out the air bag module. After that, take out the screws holding the driver air bag in place, lift the air bag from the bracket and remove both air bag squib connectors along with the horn connector. When you remove the driver air bag, pull off the speed-control wiring connector at the Clock Spring and unfasten the steering wheel nut. First use the standard wheel puller to remove the steering wheel and afterwards, remove the speed control and remote audio switches. First, join the remote audio control switches and speed control switches to the steering wheel with adhesive tape during the installation process. Make sure the splines from the steering wheel hub join up with the steering shaft ones, then put the steering wheel onto the column shaft. Connect the saw damper and secure the steering wheel bolt to a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). Connect the speed control wiring connector at the Clock Spring and then tie the two air bag squib connectors and horn connector to the driver air bag. Attach the air bag above the steering wheel and fasten it by hand, tightening its screws to 10 Nm or 90 inch lbs. After that, link the negative (-) cable on the battery back to the battery post and make sure the horn, speed and audio controls are working as they should.
