Before removing anything, make sure the front wheels are pointed right ahead. Remove the negative cable from the battery, give the
Air Bag system reserve capacitor two minutes to discharge and then begin work on any parts of the
Steering Column, instrument panel or air bag system. Protect yourself by disconnecting the battery negative cable before touching an undeployed air bag. Lift up on the air bag after removing the four mounting screws, pull away the air bag from its mount and unplug the horn and air bag squib connectors to finish removing the driver air bag. Unconnect the speed control wiring connector at the
Clock Spring and go on to remove the steering wheel retaining bolt and damper. Reach behind the dash and pull the steering wheel off with a standard wheel puller. Then remove the speed control switches and remote audio switches from the steering wheel.
