2004 Dodge Caravan Brake Light Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Light Switch on 2004 Dodge Caravan?
A: It is necessary to disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable first when working with the brake light switch. Eliminate the silencer panel below the steering column and below the knee blocker. Then, turn the brake lamp switch counterclockwise about 30 degrees and pull it loose from the bracket. Release the locking tab and remove the wiring connector from the switch, then throw out the brake lamp switch because it may not be reused. Set the new brake lamp switch through mounting it, connecting it with the wiring socket and fastening the tab to secure it. After, put the switch into the bracket, let its index tab fit into the slot and twist it slightly clockwise to attach it firmly. Once you've released the brake pedal, change the position of the lever on the brake lamp switch from its angled state to upright to fit the switch properly to the car. Fit the panel back into the silencer and link the battery negative terminal once again. In addition, make certain the stop lamps do not stay on after you let up on the brakes and test-drive the car to check how the brakes and ABS respond.
